Camping in Singapore is something that many people would like to try at least once, but it’s difficult to know where or how to start. Luckily for you, we’ve done the hard work and come up with some great ideas for where to camp in Singapore on a budget, while still enjoying some of Singapore’s natural glories.

Camping is a great way to spend time with your family. It’s fun, healthy, and offers an opportunity for the family to bond in nature. The best camping spots are remote enough that you can truly enjoy the peace and quiet but close enough that you’re not too far away from civilization when it comes time to head back for supplies or if there’s an emergency.

Here are some of the best family camping spots in Singapore!

1. East Coast Park: Beachside Camping

East Coast Park is the perfect place to pitch a tent if you want to try your hand at camping but don’t want to give up your creature comforts. Camping is allowed in Area D and Area G (with a permit) where you will find public toilets and shower blocks, BBQ pits and you aren’t too far away from an array of restaurants. It’s the perfect place to entertain the kids with many activities available like swimming, cycling, playing beach volleyball, the Xtreme SkatePark, or cable skiing.

Highlights:

  • Activities galore including swimming, cycling and playing beach volleyball.
  • The Xtreme SkatePark and cable skiing for those with adventurous kids.
  • Public toilets and shower blocks as well as BBQ pits.
  • Plus it’s close to a hawker center, cafes and restaurants for sustenance!

2. Pasir Ris Park: Spot Wildlife

This park has many spots where you can camp with your family, and it’s perfect for birdwatching because of all the wildlife that lives there. There are many activities to keep the kids busy, and adults will find just as much to do on their own. Of course, you’ll find plenty of things to do together as well, like going on a pony ride at the Gallop Stables, or leisurely cycling or skating around the park!

Highlights:

  • Camping is allowed at Area 1 and Area 3 (with permit)
  • Going on a pony ride at the Gallop Stable
  • Enjoy leisure cycling/skating or walk along the 6 hectares mangrove trail.

3. Pulau Ubin: Offshore Camping

Camping at Pulau Ubin Singapore is an excellent opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Pulau Ubin offers campsites equipped with toilet facilities, but it’s advisable to bring your own water as well as dry shampoo/talcum powder for those dusty days out.

Highlights:

  • Whip out your binoculars to spot birds at Pekan Quarry
  • Hike 75-metres up Puaka Hill for a panoramic view of the island!
  • Pulau Ubin has two main camping sites: Jelutong and Mamam. Both campsites have toilets nearby and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis so be sure not to arrive too late in the day.

With the variety among these different campsites, you have many options at your disposal, depending on your preferences whether you want free-range camping without any amenities or if you prefer more lavish comforts when out exploring nature.
